NASB | New American Standard Bible

NASB | New American Standard Bible

The NASB (New American Standard Bible) is the successor of American Standard Version [1] which copyrights ceased to exist since 1946-1952/1971 as Revised Standard Version. The ASV (American Standard Version) also known as:
- Revised Version, Standard American Edition
- American Revised Version
- American Standard Revision
- American Standard Edition
- American Standard Revised Bible

The work of Revised Version begun with the extension of invitation from the British team to the American religius leaders in 1870. Through many struggles (such as acceptence of suggestion from American team by British team, American team suggestion placement in the bible, disallowance of publishing of American version for beginning 14 years), the Bible was released in 1901 and earned renewal of copyright in 1929 and known as American Standard Version.

The reason to begin the work of Revised Version is to eliminate the presence of unauthorized Revised Version that had been circulating. The American Standard Version uses more American than British and uses different translation that the American scholarship felt more appropriate. Such as the divine name of Almighty is rendered as Jehova in American Standard Version compare to Lord in King James Version.

As the successor, the New American Standard Bible (NASB) maintains its successor (American Standard Version – ASV) characteristics and extents to [2]:
- These publications shall be true to the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
- They shall be grammatically correct.
- They shall be understandable.
- They shall give the Lord Jesus Christ His proper place, the place which the Word gives Him; therefore, no work will ever be personalized

The NASB (New American Standard Bible) complete bible was first published in 1971, the most recent edition is 1995, copyright and trademark are owned by Lockman Foundation
