Wisdom and Folly

Proverbs 9. The “Wisdom” is defined as “She”. Verses 4 pictures the objective of wisdom, to call all who is simple (easily led astray and wavering – Amplified, naïve – NASB, don’t know about life – Message). The invitation is announced in the high places of the city where the traffic are. Before the invitation is announced, the housework preparation was made, and the work of pillars was established, not just plain pillars, the craved (hewned) pillars, and the number of pillars was seven, the perfect one. There are other character who also defined as “She”, named “Folly”, mimicking the “Wisdom” in announcing the invitation. The difference are the works and the content of the messages advertised. “Folly” is characterised as noisy, knows nothing, undiciplined, boisterous (NASB), brash (NLT), frivolous (Message). Options are presented, one should define oneself and choose which direction to go.
